JUNIOR CLASSES
ROOM 6
Room 6 is year 0 (new entrance), year 1 and year 2. Ms McLean, who has so much energy and bounce, is perfectly matched to our new students. She has a strong background in early childhood which includes her Bachelor of Education. (A four year degree)
ROOM 7
Room 7 is years 1 & 2. We have two wonderful teachers in this class. Whaea Helen and Ms Thorn. They work on different days to make up the week. Whaea Helen has traveled the world and taught English while on her adventures. We love hearing about her experiences. Ms Thorn has her Masters in Education and is a registered counselor which shows in her wonderful caring and patient approach.
SENIOR CLASSES
ROOM 4
ROOM 4 is year 5 and 6. Whaea Jade is new to our school (began term 1 2022) and we welcome Jade with open arms. Jade came from Katikati College where she taught year 7 & 8. She has a degree in early childhood education and primary education, she is also a fully qualified hairdresser.
ROOM 5
ROOM 5 is years 3 and 4. This is Ms Martin’s class. Ms Martin loves science and is our Enviro Schools Teacher. She also has a background as an 'ameture trampolinist'. We all love her relaxed yet in-control teaching style. She also has a Pharmacology Degree and studied Post Grad Forensic Science.
TE REO MAORI RUMAKI CLASSES (Level 2 - 80% Te Reo Maori language)
ROOM 3 - Years 0 - 4 Teina (Younger Children)
Whaea Erika encompasses te ao Maori (tikanga, values, beliefs, culture, language) within her classroom. She is devoted to her whanau, hapu and iwi and inspires to share her knowledge to all.
ROOM 2 - Years 5 - 6 Tuakana (Older Children) and Year 7-8 Takawaenga (Intermediate)
Whaea Lisa speaks and teaches Te Reo Maori. She is our go-to in all things sports. She is also involved with the Kapa Haka group. Her passion for Kaupapa Maori helps drive our Awatea to do their best.
KAI ĀWHINA (Learning Support Assistant)
Matua Amaru is one of our wonderful Learning Support Assistants. Amaru’s skills have no limits, the support given to the Rumaki Classes is just the beginning, our resident guitarist, a gem of a voice and always supporting Kapa Haka and Netball.
