Wānanga Ipurangi - 2020
Tamariki showed enthusiasm when introduced to online learning. Whānau utilised the Awatea Facebook class page to engage with online learning before connecting through Zoom. Group tasks offered a range of activities for all whānau to get involved in tamariki learning.
Cooking challenges, Art projects, Tiktok challenges, pakiwaitara, waiata, individual and group zui,zui with whānau, online learning offered an amazing opportunity for all to engage, kōrero, share whakaaro, and more often than not checking in with whānau to see how everyone was coping.
Engaging tamariki in such a foreign setting provided an opportunity for students and kaiako to engage through another media.

mahi toi - raranga, konatu,

I ako ngā tauira te mahi peita konatu. Koinei te timatanga a tā rātou mahi raranga. Awatea tuakana have been learning how to blend paint. They used the blended paints to make strips for weaving. They painted a background for their weaving using blending and shadows. The final step was to cut the background to use as a base to weave on. This was an awesome project that resulted in beautiful pieces of artwork.
